Updates from the February 8, 2022 Board of Education Meeting: 

The Board of Education voted to modify policy 4231-5021-7263: Face Coverings at the February 8, 2022 meeting. Effective February 9th, face coverings will be optional in all Dare County facilities. Face coverings are still required on all school buses or other school transportation.

The health and safety of all of our students, staff, and parents is our first priority as this situation around COVID-19 evolves around the world. Superintendent Farrelly and the Board of Education are working in close conjunction with local, state and federal agencies to make the appropriate decisions regarding the safety of our schools and community.

What is COVID-19 (Coronavirus)? 

Many areas of the world are experiencing an increase in respiratory illness caused by a coronavirus named COVID-19. This virus can spread from person-to-person in similar ways as the common flu.

Notice Regarding Limitations on Liability for COVID-19 (S.L. 2020-89)

Any person entering these premises is hereby notified that those in possession, custody, or control of these premises have taken actions to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19 to individuals present on these premises, by requiring that relevant guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS), the N.C. Department of Public Instruction (DPI), and the County Health Department be followed.

Your support and cooperation, and your adherence to these guidelines will help prevent the transmission of COVID-19.

In any claim for relief arising from any individual contracting COVID-19, no person (including this governmental subdivision, governmental instrumentality or public corporation) shall be liable for any act or omission that does not amount to gross negligence, willful or wonton conduct, or intentional wrongdoing.  (S.L. 2020-89).
