Manteo Elementary recently unveiled its new book vending machine, a creative initiative designed to foster a love for literacy while promoting positive behavior. As part of the school’s Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework, students can earn kindness coins from staff members for demonstrating positive behavior. These coins can then be used to "purchase" a book from the vending machine, giving students a fun and rewarding way to build their personal libraries. This innovative program not only encourages reading but also reinforces good character. Watch the video to hear more from Manteo Elementary’s Principal, Mr. Price, about how this exciting addition is inspiring students and other literacy focused initiatives at MES.
